B.S. in Public Health

The bachelor's degree in Public Health is designed for students interested in disease prevention and helping people and communities adopt healthy behaviors and healthy lifestyles. The Public Health major will prepare students for careers in public health including worksite health promotion specialists, community health education, and jobs in public health agencies and community based organizations. In addition, the program is applicable for students interested in pursuing post graduate study in health fields such as medicine, physical or occupational therapy, dental hygiene, or public health.

M.S. in Community Health Promotion

The master’s degree in Community Health Promotion provides a high quality, student-oriented program designed to train skilled practitioners and researchers to design, implement, and evaluate interventions that promote health and prevent disease. The M.S. program is ideal for individuals interested in helping people and communities adopt healthy behaviors and healthy lifestyles. Graduates go on to work in a variety of settings, including community health settings, public health departments, nonprofit agencies, wellness centers, hospitals, corporate wellness programs, and health organizations. The M.S. in Community Health Promotion will also provide preparation for doctoral work in public health or health education.

Ph.D. in Health, Sport and Exercise Science (HSES)

The Ph.D. program in the Department of Health, Human Performance and Recreation is a research-focused degree that is designed to prepare scholars in advanced study to contribute to the field through teaching, research, and service

The department comprises four divisions and offers the Ph.D. degree with a concentration in each corresponding program area:
